Description

So easy to make and a family favourite. Make small rolls to serve as a snack or larger rolls to serve with creamy mashed potatoes and your favourite steamed vegetables for dinner.

Ingredients

600 g sausage mince
1 medium onion (chopped finely)
2 tablespoons tomato sauce
1 tablespoon finely chopped parsley
1 cup breadcrumbs
Salt and pepper
3 sheets ready-rolled butter puff pastry
2 tablespoons milk

Instructions

Preheat oven to 200 C/180°C fan-forced.

Combine all ingredients in a bowl, mix well.

Cut each pastry sheet in half.

Divide mixture into six equal amounts and form each into a log shape. Place meat mix along centre of pastry and roll to enclose mixture. Cut into desired lengths and place on greased baking tray. Brush with milk.

Bake for about 20 minutes or until browned lightly.

Optional variation: Add 1 medium carrot (grated) and 1/2 cup of grated tasty cheese to mixture. Make as per recipe above but leave pastry sheet whole and spread mixture over pastry (approx 1/2 inch thick) leaving 1/2 inch at ends uncovered. Roll and slice into 1 inch slices. Place slices flat on a baking tray, brush with milk and bake for 10 mins. This variation makes little scrolls rather than sausage rolls. Great for parties.

Notes

Sausage rolls can be prepared and frozen (unbaked). Just defrost and bake on the day required.
