Brownie Loaf

Description

My mother used to cook lots of 'old fashioned' foods in a wood fire oven when we lived in the country as kids. Rich, filling, wholesome meals and treats that would fill the house with wonderful smells. This is one of her recipes.

Ingredients

2 cups self raising flour
1 cup sultanas
1 cup brown sugar
1 tablespoon butter
1 teaspoon mixed spice
1 tablespoon cocoa
1 cup milk

Instructions

Pre-heat oven to 180C and grease & flour or line a loaf tin.

Sift flour, cocoa and spice into a bowl. Rub in butter. Add brown sugar and sultanas and stir to combine. Stir in milk and pour batter into prepared loaf tin.

Bake for 45 mins.

Notes

This loaf is best eaten the same day it is cooked.... delicious spread with butter.
